The Stephenville Honeybees won again on Tuesday with their defeat of the Krum Lady ‘Cats, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15, in Aledo to claim the Area Championship. Krum (29-14, 7-4) came out of District 8, 4A in third place and defeated Burkburnett in three sets, but they were no match for the buzzsaw that is the Honeybee volleyball team.
The Bees (32-5, 8-0) are ranked No. 6 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, on a 10-game winning streak and came out of District 6, 4A undefeated and in first place. Now, Stephenville will face off against the Springtown Lady Porcupines (24-19, 8-3) in the Region 1 Quarterfinals on Monday, November 6, at 6 p.m. in the Aledo HS Gym.
The Porcupines are coming out of District 8, 4A in second place behind No. 9 Decatur, who was undefeated coming out of district play. They are currently on a 4-game winning streak after beating Castleberry, Krum, Wichita Falls and Mineral Wells.
Another District 6 team, the Glen Rose Lady Tigers (26-16, 6-2) will also be playing in a Regional Quarterfinal matchup. They face Decatur (23-16, 10-0). The Lady Tigers were in second out of District 6 and go up against the first place in District 8 Lady Eagles on Monday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in Weatherford.
