November 8, 1941 ~ December 22, 2023 (age 82)
Joseph Charles Gaiser, Jr. of Longview, Texas, entered his eternal rest on December 22, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church Longview.
Joe was born in Temple, Texas, on November 8, 1941, to J.C. and Sara Gaiser. He grew up in Tyler, Texas, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He married Jean Green on August 29, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. After graduating from Texas A&M Commerce, formerly East Texas State University, with a degree in vocational education and a master’s in education, he and Jean settled in Longview where they started a family.
Joe was a tenured professor of Design Technology at LeTourneau University where he loved teaching and making a difference in the lives of his students. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Longview and served as a volunteer there in various roles. He enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking, and his beloved dogs through the years. He especially loved visiting with friends and time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Gaiser of Longview, Texas; son, Jeff Gaiser and wife, Laurie of Stephenville, Texas; daughter, Jill Eckard and husband, Brian of Springdale, Arkansas; grandson, Dillon Eckard of Fayetteville, Arkansas; granddaughter, Ellie Eckard of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sister, Carol Ann Goodman of Tyler, Texas; sister, Javelle Gage of Tyler, Texas; nieces, Kimberly Williams, Melissa Espindola, and Rhonda Green; and nephews, Bubba McCoy and Kirk Green.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Helen Andrews Gaiser; his father, Joseph Charles “J.C.” Gaiser, Sr.; and his stepmother, Frances Lucille Point Gaiser.
