With heavy hearts yet cherished memories, we announce the passing of Wallace Reid, a man whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Wallace’s presence was a gift; his warm smile and compassionate nature made everyone feel loved and valued. His departure leaves a void that will be felt by many, yet his legacy of love and laughter endures.


Wallace was a beacon of light in every room he entered, always quick with a joke and a loving remark, and a laugh like no other. His sense of humor was a source of joy, as he playfully declared each of his kids and grandkids, as his ‘favorite.’ You knew he was bringing smiles and laughter to any family gatherings.


His passion for music was undeniable. An avid guitarist, songwriter, and singer, Wallace’s melodies and lyrics were a reflection of his soul – full of depth, warmth, and sincerity. Music was not just a hobby for him; it was a way of connecting with the world, sharing stories, and expressing his heartfelt emotions.


A proud veteran, Wallace served his country with honor in the Army National Guard. His service was a testament to his character – a man of integrity, courage, and dedication.


Wallace is preceded in death by his beloved family members: parents Pearl and Demery Doyle Reid; sisters Wanda Sullivan and Maxine Reid, brothers John and Douglas Reid, daughter Shelly Green, and grandson Colton White. His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Joy Reid of Proctor; his brother, Ranny Reid of Brock; His children Tressie White and husband Chris White of Decatur, and Jess Green and wife Kim Green of Brock; his grandkids Dylan Penn, Ethan Penn, Kelby White and wife Rosalind White, Calvin White, Kaleb White and wife Brandi White, Prestyn Green, Addison Green, and Josie Green; his great grandkids Ledger and Dacre White; along with countless friends and family members whose lives he touched.


Wallace’s life was a beautiful melody of love, humor, and kindness. As we bid farewell to this incredible man, let us celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the beautiful memories he leaves behind.


A service to honor and remember Wallace will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at Harrell Memorial Chapel beginning at 11:00am, and a visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. 


We will miss Wallace immensely, but we take solace in knowing that his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
