Tarleton State, TSTC Partnership Offers Scholarships for Transfer Students

STEPHENVILLE — One of the fastest-growing regional universities in the country and Texas’ only public multi-campus technical college have cemented an agreement as part of an initiative to boost educational opportunities for transfer students who graduate from two-year schools.

As part of its Distinguished College Partnership, Tarleton State University will provide annual  $500-$2,500 scholarships to Texas State Technical College transfer students with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Awards will be divided between fall and spring semesters based on enrollment and will be renewable up to three years with satisfactory academic progress. Application fees will be waived for those with demonstrated need.

The multimillion-dollar investment aligns with the 125-year vision of Tarleton State’s founder to provide a high-quality university education to students who otherwise might not have the chance.

“Our Distinguished College Partnership with TSTC deepens our determination for educational opportunity and affordability,” said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. “This agreement strengthens our partnership and our combined commitment to ensure success for all students.”

“We are excited to enter into this partnership with Tarleton State University,” said Karla Flanagan, TSTC’s associate vice chancellor of Instructional Alignment and Innovation. “Our educational partnerships across Texas allow students to further their education, expand their employment opportunities and promote career advancement. With Tarleton State, we’re creating seamless pathways toward affordable baccalaureate degree programs.”

Tarleton State is developing similar agreements with other two-year colleges in the region, in concert with the President’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program – Transfer, which assures scholarships from $250 to $2,000 per year for students admitted from two-year colleges. Award amounts are enhanced for students graduating from one of Tarleton State’s Distinguished College Partners. For more information go to https://www.tarleton.edu/becomeatexan/tgap/.
