Memorial Services for Mary Jane (Sharpe) Goodgion, 76, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Green’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ben McCleery officiating.

Mary was born in Cisco, Texas, on September 12, 1947. She spent most of her life in Brownwood, Texas, and she graduated from Brownwood High School in 1966. She married Dwight Williams in 1967, and they had two children to whom Mary was devoted. Later, she married Billy Wayne Goodgion in 1978 in Brownwood, Texas, and Mary welcomed his four children as her own. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2017.

She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, Brownwood, Texas, until moving to Stephenville where she joined Green’s Creek Baptist Church in Dublin, Texas. Among many pursuits, Mary enjoyed crocheting, baking, sewing, reading, including serving on the Hospitality Committee at Green’s Creek Baptist Church, and spending time with her friends and family. After years working for a variety of physicians, Mary pursued a dream and attended cosmetology school at the young age of 50. Upon getting her license, Mary worked in a career that she adored. After she retired and before moving to Stephenville, she volunteered at the Brownwood Pregnancy Center. After moving to Stephenville, she loved caring for animals, her community, and her family.

Survivors include her children, Damon Williams and wife, Melonie, of Stephenville, Texas, Shelly Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Mike Goodgion and wife, Diane, of Brownwood, Texas, Gary Goodgion and wife, Sharla, of Brownwood, Texas, Keri Goodgion of Brownwood, Texas, and son-in-law, Robert Wright of May, Texas; eight grandchildren: Curtis Goodgion, Tyler Goodgion, Shane Goodgion, Josh Holster, Morgan Williams, Amber Long, Chance Goodgion, and Laci Wright; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Pauline Modawell, her daughter, Peggy Wright, and six brothers and sisters.
