Elmer James “Jimmy” Logan, Jr. was born on July 1, 1932 in Atchison, Kansas to the late Elmer James Logan, Sr. and Laura Marie (Dyson) Logan. He grew up in Kansas but served in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, Texas. He met the love of his life, Roberta Mae Drees, while in Ft. Worth, and they married on January 11, 1957. They began their family with a son, Robert James “Jimmy,” and then their daughter, Jana Marie joined the family. Elmer and Roberta resided in White Settlement and Fort Worth. As a family, they moved to Benbrook where Jana and Jimmy spent their childhood and finally moved to Bluff Dale in 1973.


Elmer grew up farming in Kansas and joined the Air Force in 1952. Upon his discharge from the Air Force in 1956, Elmer went to work at Convair/General Dynamics with a 37-year career in electronics and technical publications. During his career, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and overseas. After his retirement from General Dynamics, Elmer and his wife, Roberta, began their next career as business owners of Hometown Antique Mall in Stephenville. Elmer’s passion was golfing. He was also an accomplished craftsman, artist, and carpenter. He built his own house along with building much of their furniture inside the house.


Elmer is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roberta, of Bluff Dale; his son, “Jimmy” and wife, Lisa, of Bluff Dale, his daughter, Jana, and husband, Danny Karnes, of Stephenville; his grandsons, Christopher of Bluff Dale, and Brandon and wife, Sarah, of Bluff Dale; his great grandchildren Ammie, Kezley, and Cash all of Bluff Dale; his sister, Donna Bartholow, of Independence, Missouri.
Elmer was proceeded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jeanie Andrews and Helen Lucille Green; and his infant son, Baby Elmer.

Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 13, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.
