All-American Hughes joins Texan Softball for 2025

STEPHENVILLE – Haley Hughes, a JUCO NFCA All-American, joins the Texans for 2025 as announced by head coach Mark Cumpian on Wednesday.

As a true freshman last year, Hughes started every game for the Buccaneers leading the team in nearly every offensive category as she rounded things out earning NFCA and NJCAA All-American. She ended her lone season at Blinn sitting in the top-25 of four offensive categories nationally. On the defensive side of things, Hughes tallied over 100 putouts, along with 60-plus assists.

The Lack Jackson, Texas, native, batted .497 (11th nationally) in her first season at the collegiate level collecting 96 hits, 71 runs, 26 stolen bases and 23 RBI. Hughes led the Buccaneers in batting average (.497), hits (96), doubles (13), triples (6), on-base percentage (.561) and slugging percentage (.642).

During her time at Blinn, the Texas product tallied up quite the handful of awards. She was named to the NFCA All-American Second Team, NJCAA All-American First Team, NFCAA All-Region First Team and All-Conference First Team. On the academic side of things, Hughes was named to the 2023 Dean’s List and 2024 Chancellor’s List, plus was an NFCA Scholar Athlete and an NJCAA Academic All-American.

Hughes graduated from Brazoswood High School in 2023. She spent three years on the varsity squad before signing with Blinn College.

During her time at Brazoswood, she earned multiple awards over the course of her playing career. Her senior year she was named to the NFCA First Team All-Region Region 6 Team, named a 6A TGCA All-State Utility Player, a TSWA All-State Utility Player, a 6A First Team All-County Outfielder, a 6A 1st team All-District Outfielder and the Brazoswood HS Offensive MVP.

Her junior year she was named a 6A First Team All-County Catcher as well as a 6A First Team All-District Catcher.

Hughes intends to major in Animal Science (Pre Vet) at Tarleton State University.
