Norman Lee Carpenter, 88, of Stephenville, peacefully passed on Saturday July 6, 2024 in Stephenville TX. A Graveside service will be held at 12 pm, Monday, July 8 at the Clairette Cemetery. Norman was born on July 22, 1935, in Stephenville to the late Raymond “Tog” Carpenter and Marie Elizabeth Waugh Carpenter. He married Myrna Kay Mayfield on August 25, 1967, in Hico TX. Norman started working as a youngster at his grandpa’s gas station across from Jake & Dorothy’s Restaurant. He later went to
work for General Motors and then returned home to Stephenville and he was a contractor, building houses in residential areas of Stephenville. Norman was also a dairy man and did road maintenance and septic inspections for Erath County. Raising and caring for longhorns and other cattle also kept him busy, but his passion was anything horses, and his favorite was cutting horses, training and competing with them. He also did judging at horse shows.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna of Stephenville, his daughter Lisa Carpenter Hollingsworth of Stephenville, his sons Kirk Boen of Stephenville, and Kent Carpenter and wife Debbie of Hico and daughter Jonette Sparks of Hico, 13 Grandchildren, 19 Great- Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
