August 18, 1957 ~ July 18, 2024 (age 66)
A memorial service to honor the life of Patti Moreno will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Erath County Cowboy Church with Werth Mayes officiating. Patti went to sing with Jesus from her home in Bangs, Texas, surrounded by family on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Arrangements are being made by Lacy Funeral Home.
Patti was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on August 18, 1957, to parents Donald J. and Joan (Neff) Belt. She was raised on a farm with her 4 siblings in Beecher, Illinois until the family moved to Copperas Cove, Texas, where they bought a motel in 1976. Patti would head up housekeeping and eventually managed the attached restaurant while starting her own family.
On November 3, 2003, Patti married Francisco Moreno and they combined her 4 and his 5 children and moved to a 10-acre homestead in Dublin, Texas, where she dedicated her life to making a loving home for their family. Patti was amazing cook/baker, and her loved ones will miss her cooking as much as her singing. One of the best memories was Frank and Patti hosting the Belt-Moreno Thanksgiving family reunions, especially after Frank built a large pavilion on the property for the gatherings.
Patti was a member of the Cowboy Church of Erath County, where she shared her love of Christ through her powerful, yet beautiful voice. She brought many people to God with her songs of joy and praise, but she also cut albums in Country, Christmas, and Gospel genres. Patti also received accolades from far & wide for her realistic rendition of Patsy Cline in Central Texas’ Vive les Arts Society’s stage production, Always… Patsy Cline.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald J. Belt, whom we know hugged her dearly when she arrived. Survivors who will be left with a huge hole in their hearts include: her mother, Joan Belt of Texas City, Texas, her children, Kenny Hinds of Gatesville, Texas, Joey Hinds of Comanche, Texas, Amanda Hunt and husband, Brandon , of Happy Valley, Oregon, Jamie Hult and husband, Kurt, of Redding, California, Marco Moreno and wife, Dawn, of Dublin, Texas, David Moreno and wife, Andrea, of Garden City, Kansas, Eric Moreno of Altus, Oklahoma, Frances Moreno of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Erica Conner and husband, Tyson, of Granbury, Texas, 14 grandchildren, her siblings, Donald J. Belt, Jr. of Kingsland, Texas, Susan Klima of Texas City, Texas, Bill Belt and wife, Madeline, of Rowlett, Texas, Liz Inge and husband, Teemer, of Texas City, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of those who loved Patti and will miss her as much as we will. She had a profound effect on anyone who spoke to her or listened to her music. We will be forever grateful to be able to reminisce with her recorded songs in helping heal our saddened hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Patti’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or to St, Jude’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
