January 12, 1929 ~ July 29, 2024 (age 95)
Donald Lee (Don) Bromwell of Huckabay entered into his eternal home at Western Hills Healthcare in Comanche, TX. He was 95 years young! A funeral service for Don will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Lacy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Plains Cemetery in Plains, KS, on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 3 p.m.
Don was born on January 12, 1929, on the family farm south of Plains, KS. His school years were all at Plains, graduating in 1948. Don married the love of his life, Frankie Lou Ford, on October 22, 1948. They shared 72 years of marriage.
Don worked many years for Pioneer Natural Gas Co. in Amarillo and Odessa, Texas. He retired at 55. After retirement he and Frankie moved to rural Stephenville where they built a beautiful home. Many happy memories and holidays were enjoyed by family and friends. Most of the grandkids and great grands shot their first deer on the place. Don enjoyed playing golf, hunting anything, fishing and traveling to places like Hawaii, Calgary Stampede, Cheyenne Frontier Days, and a great trip to Alaska with long time friends Dick and Amelia Saulsbury.
Don loved the Lord and was an active member of Oakdale United Methodist Church until his health declined. He was also very proud of his 76 years as a Mason. A highlight for him was giving Huckabay seniors scholarships from the lodge.
