(April 16, 1986 – July 31, 2024)
Jonathon Dewitt Dews, born April 16, 1986, in Waco, Texas to parents Kenneth Ray Dews and Pamela (Vanek) Strickland, passed away July 31, 2024, at age 38. Jon was a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Jon learned to play drums from his dad and enjoyed playing both the drums and guitar. Jon wrote many songs including the song “Rockport”, that country musician Kayla Ray recorded on her album. All his musician friends lovingly called him “Pappy”. He also started a Facebook page known as “The Harvey Hoard” to have musical instruments donated to those who lost their instruments during Hurricane Harvey. Jon had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up a room. Our Jon Jon will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Jon is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Dews, mother in-law Deb Jacobs, grandfathers Ed Bristow and Dewitt Dews.
Jon is survived by his wife Shane Dews, mother Pamela Strickland and husband Jim, brother Justin Dews, sister, Angelica Holland and husband Kenny, grandparents Johnny and Dorthy Vanek, Dora Bristow, stepdaughter Elizabeth Jacobs, father and mother- in-law Calvin Jacobs and wife Helen, brother in-law Shawn Jacobs and wife Laura.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
