Pastor Harry (Red) Earles died at his home in Texas on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
He was the Pastor for Calvary Baptist Church in Newport for 30 years, from 1968 through 1998. When he retired to Texas, he was associate pastor for Senior Adult Care at First Baptist Church Dublin, Texas for 20 years.
As a Bivocational Pastor, he worked for the Lincoln County School District in several jobs. First employed as a substitute teacher and bus driver, then as Coordinator for Adult Basic Education, later as Director of Adult Education for ten years. No matter what job he held, he was always a pastor to the people he worked with.
His church started a soup kitchen when he left the school district. You could find him there on Wednesdays either cooking, cleaning up, or sitting and talking to the people who came in. He had a magnetic smile and a good listening ear.
He served as Moderator of the Coast Baptist Association for several years, loved to be a part of the Associational Church Camp, and served one term on the Executive Board of the Northwest Baptist Convention.
He was active as a volunteer with many groups ranging from Umpire for Little League games, Referee to his son’s football games, to his involvement with Food Share, The Soup Kitchen at Calvary, on the board with Volunteer Services, or Contact Information and Referral.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Woods Earles, of Dublin, Texas, his sons, Mark Earles, of Portland, Oregon, Mike Earles, and wife, Velvet, of Dublin, Texas, his daughter, Deana Crumal, and husband, Randy, of Dublin, Texas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin, Texas from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at The First Baptist Church in Dublin, Texas at 2:00 pm.
Interment to follow at Pecan Cemetery.
