AUSTIN – The Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (ATAT) held its annual Professional Development Conference in Dallas on July 22- 26.

Agricultural science teachers spent the week attending professional development workshops, training classes, and general sessions with motivational speakers to enhance their current teaching methods and keep up with the latest developments in agricultural education and technology.

Deserving members and special guests were recognized during the opening general session on Tuesday, July 23, during which the association presented this year’s ATAT awards. These awards, bestowed on deserving educators and advocates, are based on nomination and merit.

The Outstanding Teacher Awards are split into three experience levels: young teacher, mid-career teacher, and experienced teacher. These awards acknowledge agricultural science teachers who have shown a strong commitment to teaching and student success, excellence in teaching practices, a record of outstanding teaching effectiveness within and outside the classroom, effective course program development that equally reflects each component of the Three Circle Model, and the ability to inspire, promote, and sustain students’ growth.

The 2024 Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas Outstanding Young Teacher is Cameron Price of Stephenville High School.

“Teaching agricultural science is my passion,” said Price. “I am blessed to work with our talented and dedicated students each and every day. The banners may fade and the buckles are eventually put in a drawer, but the true lessons and memories come from FFA event road trips and with teams of passionate students, which is what makes our job rewarding.”
