STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State’s KiAndre Gaddy joins Lue Williams as the second player from the 2023-24 Texans to sign a professional basketball contract.

Gaddy has signed to play professionally overseas with BBC Arantia Larochette. The team is based in Luxembourg and competes in the Total League.

“What a great story Kiandre Gaddy has become,” head coach Billy Gillispie said. “From starting his career as a walk-on, to ending it one of the best players in the WAC in just one year. He has really left a lasting impression here. We are so happy and proud of his accomplishments as a player and as a graduate at Tarleton State. Kiandre is an inspiration to all of us because of his determination, desire, and work ethic. He basically made himself into a pro player and in my estimation, he will succeed at that level too. We are ecstatic for Kiandre and look forward to watching his progress as a professional. He has definitely made all of us Texans proud!”

Gaddy becomes the sixth Texan in the last two years to sign a pro contract joining Williams, Shakur Daniel, Tre Gipson, Tahj Small and Rod Brown in the professional ranks.

Last season, Gaddy was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year and named to the WAC All-Defensive Team. He was also elected as a finalist for the Lefty Driessel Award (the nation’s top defender). In the postseason, Gaddy earned the Lou Henson Classic MVP after averaging 14 points and seven rebounds and notching a double-double in the opening round of the two games. He was named to the All-Tournament Team of SoCal Challenge Sand Division, as he helped lead the team to the title with his second double-double of the season in the title game.

He led the WAC in total offensive boards and ranked 11th in the nation with 3.77 per game. He tied for fourth most in school history with 132 offensive rebounds, setting the new D1 era record. Gaddy also tied for 15th in program history and set the Texans’ D1 era record with 52 blocks. His 1.95 blocks per game in conference play ranked second in the WAC. He ranked eighth in the conference averaging 6.8 rebounds per game. He averaged 12.1 points per game, the 24th best in the league. In his first season in the ‘Ville as a junior, he led the team with 20 blocks and a .607 field goal percentage (51-for-84).

I am super excited to start this next chapter of my career, said 2024 Tarleton State graduate Gaddy. “Playing professionally has always been a dream of mine and I’m so thankful for this opportunity. Thank you to my family, coaches, friends and everyone who supported me and helped me to this point!”

During his two seasons with the Texans, Gaddy climbed the leaderboards in many different D1 era career categories. He holds the Tarleton D1 era record with 72 blocks in his two seasons. His 167 offensive boards are the most by a Texan during their D1 career. He holds the highest field goal percentage among those Texans that played more than one season for Tarleton (.571).

BBC Arantia Larochette finished the season, fifth in the Total League. The squad ended the year, 12-10 after being ousted in the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament. The team reached the league semifinals in 2022 and 2023 and earned a berth to the championship in 2022.
