Raymond Lee Fletcher Jr., 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Stephenville, TX on September 2, 2024. Raymond was born in Denton, TX on December 1, 1944, the son of Raymond Lee Fletcher Sr. and Bonnie Boyd Fletcher.
Raymond was a husband, father, veteran, carpenter, fisherman, and hunter, known for his strong work ethic. Raymond graduated from Denton High School and went on to serve with the U.S. Navy Seabees in Vietnam for the next three years and was stationed in various locations, including Rhode Island and Thailand. He was involved in significant combat during the Vietnam War.
Raymond married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth in 1965 and had two children, Brian and Lisa, and a grandchild named Patrick. He had two sisters, Martha Jo and Sylvia (preceded him in death). Raymond later married his second wife Shirley in 1991 and enjoyed their life together until her passing in 2022.
Raymond was a carpenter for over 20 years including teaching Building Trades at Denton High School and later became the Manager of Maintenance at Tarleton State University before retiring.
Raymond enjoyed fishing and hunting, with memorable experiences fishing at tournaments and teaching his children these skills. Some of his favorite memories include many fishing trips and competing in B.A.S.S. fishing tournaments, teaching his son Brian to shoot during Dove season, and special moments with his daughter Lisa. Raymond also enjoyed traveling and traveled to various countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, and Belize.
A graveside service will be held on September 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
