On Tuesday, September 17, the Bluff Dale Lady Cat Volleyball team (16-7-4) took on the Gustine Lady Tigers (3-2) in Bobcat Gym in Bluff Dale. The Lady Cats are ranked 21st in Class 1A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and earned this victory in 3 straight sets.
Bluff Dale’s libero, #1 Mckenzey Grammer, started off the first serve of the match. This 1st set was a battle, with the Lady Cats keeping a steady 2-point lead, until the end of the set where they picked up momentum and got the win, 25-20. Set 2 started off similarly, but when #12, Lilly Paxton and #21, Vada Anderson racked up kills for the team, nothing could stop them, ending set 2 with a score of 25-10. The first two sets gave the girls confidence allowing them to maintain a high, positive energy to win the 3rd set, 25-13.
“I think that the girls played really well this game,” said Lady Cats head coach, Madison Scott, “We’ve been struggling with pushing through, so I am really proud of them for how we came out that third set and did exactly what we were supposed to do and got things done. So, hopefully, we can continue to do that as we move into the season.”
The Bluff Dale Lady Cats will take on their next opponent, the Meridian Lady Jackets (1-15) at home with JV starting at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity to follow, on Friday, September 20.
