STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Volleyball earned a pair of players on the Western Athletic Conference Weekly Award list, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

After earning Tarleton State Invitational MVP this past weekend, Allison Bryant was named the WAC Player of the Week. TSU Invitational All-Tournament Team selection, Emma Halcomb, earned recognition as the WAC Libero of the Week.

The Texans rattled off a 4-1 week that included three straight victories to be crowned the Tarleton State Invitational champions. The Purple and White have opened their home slate with four consecutive victories in Wisdom Gym.

Bryant started off her stellar week by smashing the Texans single-match D1 era kills record. She tallied 27 kills against McNeese, marking a new career high. This mark leads the WAC and is tied for the 24th best in a five-set match in the nation this season. This also marked her first of three double-doubles throughout the week. Last Thursday, Bryant notched a career-high 23 digs against Oral Roberts, breaking a career-high in two consecutive matches. This marked her second double-double of the week (13 kills, 11 digs).

The junior from Kelseyville, Calif. was efficient in all aspects of the game last week. The Texan’s star hitter had three matches hitting above .300, including a career-high hitting percentage against Alcorn State (.615). Overall, Bryant accumulated a total of 89 kills, seven digs, six aces, and eight blocks during her career-defining week, leading to her first player of the week honors as a Texan.

Bryant leads the Texans with 191 kills this season. Her mark tops the league in total kills and ranks 14th in the nation. Her 3.67 kills per set ranks fourth in the WAC. She has totaled 208.0 points which leads the league and ranks 28th in the nation.

Halcomb earned her first WAC weekly honor as the libero of the week. Halcomb posted double-digit dig totals in four of five matches last week, including two matches of 25-plus digs. She tied her career-high of 25 against McNeese, then proceeded to burst that number once again with a 26-dig outing against ULM on Saturday. Halcomb holds the top two digs totals in a single match in the WAC this season.

The senior averaged a stellar 4.09 digs per set throughout the course of the week. Across five matches, she accumulated 90 digs, 26 assists, and four aces. Halcomb also had three matches of six assists last week, tying her season high. The Highland Village, Texas, native, currently leads the WAC in digs (202) and digs per set (3.88). She ranks 43rd in the country in total digs as well.
