The Stephenville Honeybee volleyball team (18-12, 3-1) took on the Brownwood Lady Lions (13-17, 0-4) on Tuesday, October 8, in Gandy Gym. The Honeybees gained a district win over the Lady Lions in 3 straight sets.
Stephenville received the first serve of the match, giving them an early lead in set 1. This set was a close one, with the Honeybees keeping a steady 2-point lead. Toward the end of the set, the Bees increased their lead with #12 Keirstyn Carlton being an essential player on the front and back row in order to win the set, 25-17.
Set 2 was a battle for the Honeybees, going back and forth. This set had a lot of action and multiple double blocks for the Bees, winning this set 26-24. The energy of the gym and momentum the girls carried into set 3 to sweep Brownwood, 25-11. In set 3 #14 Kyla Ray had great kills and #8 Allegra Forman had a serving streak to win the game.
It was a good night for the Stephenville Honeybees. Not only did they receive a district win, but #7 Stevie-Kate LaDuque joined the 1,000 club by earning 1,000th career assist.
The Honeybees will take on the Brock Lady Eagles in Brock at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11.
