
STEPHENVILLE — Both Tarleton State University rodeo teams scored first-place finishes this past weekend at the Texas Tech National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region stop in Lubbock.
The men’s team accumulated 370 points to top runner-up Western Texas College by 40 while the women amassed 385 points to easily outdistance host Texas Tech’s 220-point total.
Tarleton State’s men claimed their fourth straight win led by steer wrestler Landris White, who posted a first-round 4.2 and a 4.6 in the championship finals for an 8.8 total and first place in the event.
Bareback rider Roedy Farrell took second with his two-ride 153 featuring a long-go 79 and a 74 in the finals. Teammates Tuker Carricato and Taylon Carmody were seventh and eighth in the event. Carricato scored a 78-68-146 and Carmody earned a 69-76-145.
Saddle bronc rider Bailey Small scored a 76 in the preliminary round for seventh.
Tarleton State’s women were paced by breakaway roper Jordan Driver and goat tyer Tori Brower. Each captured top honors in their events.
Driver’s 2.6-3.0-5.6 .01 better than teammate Tayler Felton’s 5.7, which included a first-round best 2.2 and a 3.5 in the short go.
Brower edged teammate Hattie Haynes for first in the event, flashing a 7.5-7.2-14.7 to Haynes’ 14.8 on twin 7.4s.
Barrel racer Taber Garcia added a sixth-place 35.19 tally on rides of 17.59 and 17.6.
Both teams will wrap up the fall season at the Vernon College Rodeo Nov. 7-9.
