(April 18, 1938 – November 1, 2024)

LaMay Greer Mann entered the arms of Jesus at age 86 on Friday, November 1, 2024.  She was surrounded by family at the time of her death and was able to speak by phone to her closest loved ones the days prior, so she left this earth knowing she was valued and loved.

LaMay was born in Sweetwater, TX on April 18, 1938, to Ruby May Greer and Reefer Dell Greer. She graduated from Sweetwater where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Willard Mann, on December 23, 1956. Although they married young, their love endured through almost 68 years of marriage.

In 1956, a job opportunity for Williard moved them to Odessa where their children Randy and Patti were born. A meat market job for Willard surfaced in 1962, so the family headed to another West Texas town in Andrews.  They eventually settled in Dublin in 1969 to enter the convenience store business which would be their livelihood for many years.

LaMay was active at First Baptist Church of Dublin and the community while her health permitted.  She was partner, business advisor and bookkeeper for Mann’s 7-11, Inc. which operated convenience stores across Erath County for over 23 years. She was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary International Foundation. She also supported Williard’s side catering business by serving and preparing savory side dishes to complement his well-known steak and smoked brisket.

LaMay had an artistic touch that was expressed through her passion for ceramics, interior design and floral arrangements. Family members and friends were beneficiaries of her creative bounty which served as special reminders of her generosity and love for others.

LaMay’s primary passion was spoiling her three grandsons and was affectionately called “Mamay”.  She attended countless athletic events, school plays, church performances, and birthday parties. When she was no longer able to attend in person, she would enjoy the phone calls that followed. She delighted in indulging them at Christmas with a mountain of thoughtfully selected gifts.

LaMay is preceded in death by her beloved parents Ruby May Greer and Reefer D. Greer, a stepfather Cliff McCormick, a brother, R. Dell Greer, and dear sister in-law Shirley Greer.

She is survived by her devoted husband Willard Mann, their son Randy and wife Caroline (Belton, TX), daughter Patti Thompson and husband Derrel (Temple, TX); three grandsons, Mitchell and Miranda  (Colorado Springs, CO) and their two sons Maverick Greer and Maddox Gravelle, Michael and Lydia (Alexandria, VA), and Marshall and Annie (Dallas, TX) and their son Wilson Henry and a much anticipated sibling due February 2025. Two nephews, Alan Greer and wife Lori (Argyle, TX) and Russell Greer and wife Laura (Aledo, TX).
