STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Football remained in the top-15 in both of the prominent FCS national polls on Monday with three regular season games to play.

Following its first conference loss of the season and its first FCS loss in over a year, Tarleton State dropped to No. 14 from No. 7 in both the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and the AFCA Coaches Poll.

The Texans are the highest ranked team in the United Athletic Conference in both polls.

In the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, the Texans (680 points) are one spot ahead of No. 15 Abilene Christian (650 points) and two spots ahead of No. 16 Central Arkansas (447 points). A national media panel selects the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll. A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.

In the AFCA Coaches Poll, the Texans (320 points) are two spots ahead of No. 16 Abilene Christian (249 points) and five spots ahead of No. 19 Central Arkansas (201 points). The AFCA FCS Coaches Poll is voted on by the panel chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the AFCA their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top-25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second-place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.

The Texans are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Their 7-2 record through nine games is their best start to a year in their NCAA Division I era. The Texans have won 11 of their last 13 games, dating back to last season.

Tarleton State has three regular season games remaining; on the road Nov. 9 at West Georgia, at home Nov. 16 vs. Abilene Christian, and at home Nov. 23 vs. Central Arkansas. Tickets for Tarleton’s last two regular season home games are on sale at www.tarletonsports.com/tickets.
