Douglas Lee Dunlap Sr. was born in Coleman, Texas on December 2nd, 1948, and passed away in Garland, Texas on Monday, November 25, 2024, aged 75 years, just 7 days short of his 76th birthday. Doug was the third child of Frank M. Dunlap and Lucia Nieta Smith Dunlap.
Doug grew up in Midland, Texas attending Robert E. Lee High School, graduating in 1968. Doug married Debbie Brown of Midland, his high school sweetheart. They had a son Douglas Lee Jr. and a daughter Denise René. In 1969 Douglas joined the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He later started a building and construction business in the Dallas, Texas area. Doug subsequently began teaching at the high school level in several high schools across Texas for 17 years. He then transitioned to a career in computer technology and network administration for another 17 years with Collin County Community College. Doug loved animals, music, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, photography, genealogy and computers. He was a devoted father and a kind and loving man who was well loved by his family, friends and associates.
Doug was predeceased by both parents and his spouse, by his brothers Daniel and Dennis, and sister Cindy. He is survived by both his son and daughter, his brother Clark Dunlap and Lori of Katy, TX, his uncle Bernard Dunlap who was loved as a brother, along with aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Burial will be Saturday, November 30th at 10:30 AM at the Barbee Cemetery.
