Lon L. Laquey, 96, of Dublin, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Adkins, Texas. He was born on August 18, 1928, in Truscott, Texas, to Charlie and Thelma Laquey. Lon lived a life full of hard work, devotion to family, and a deep connection to the land.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dates Jan 1951 until Nov 1954.

On February 18, 1958, he married Janey Carpenter, and together they spent 66 years building a life rich in love and memories. Lon was a lifelong farmer, raising cattle and peanuts, a testament to his dedication and tireless work ethic. He was known for his honor, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Lon was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Janey, his grandson Victor Laquey, and his sister Muntess.

He is survived by his brother Buster Laquey, children, Russell Laquey and wife Betty of Midlothian, Texas, and Suzanne Shuler and husband Cecil of Adkins, Texas; his grandchildren, Daniel Laquey, Katie Sylvester and husband Craig, Brandon Shuler, and Anthony Shuler; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A loving father, grandfather, and husband, Lon will be remembered for his strong character, his dedication to his family, and the legacy of hard work he leaves behind. His love and guidance will continue to inspire all who knew him.


A graveside service will be held at a later date.
