Evelyn Kay Stephen, known to many as Kay, passed away on January 31, 2025, in Stephenville, Texas at the age of 76. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Kay was born in Dublin, Texas on October 21, 1948, to O.O. Gilbreath and Ovetta Brown – Gilbreath.

She spent most of her life as a housewife but enjoyed her time helping others as an X-ray technician in Erath County.  Her warm smile, kindness, generosity, and love for others will be missed by many.  She had a positive spirit and was always excited to spend time with her family.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being involved in their lives, whether it was baking cookies or celebrating birthdays with them.  She adored horses and was always ready to go on a trail ride.  Kay enjoyed watching rodeos and was even known to ride a mechanical bull now and then.  Joe David was the love of her life, and she was so happy to have him by her side.  They loved to travel and went on many adventures together.

She loved to go shopping to find a good deal and when she found it, she would say, “What a deal, What a deal!”
