MANHATTAN, Kansas – Tarleton State Track and Field will travel to Manhattan, Kansas to compete in the Steve Miller Invitational for the first time in program history on Friday at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track.

The Texans dropped two more records in the women’s 200 and the men’s long jump. In addition, four top-10 performances were posted by the Purple and White.

“This is the time of year that us coaches really look at the consistency component of every event,” said head coach Bobby Carter. “I am very proud of this team as we are headed into conference championships in a few weeks. We had some very great performances today and also school records being broken again. It’s always good to see those things happen. We are looking forward to the remainder of the season , and one thing that I continue to tell the team, is that our job is not finished yet!”

Amandine Estival broke her own school record in the 200 in the first event of the day. Estival not only broke her program record by .07 seconds but won the event as well. The junior won by 0.4 seconds over a field full of Big 12 athletes.

The men’s long jump was taken over by the Texan duo of Sir Jonathan Sims and Lokesh Sathyanathan. The pair finished first and second in the event. Sims leaped 7.68 meters (25 feet and 2.5 inches) to break his own school record by 0.03 meters. Sims not only set the program record again and a new personal best, but also set the facility record which was previously at 7.53 meters. The Arizona transfer secured his first event victory as a Texan. Sathyanathan also would have broken the facility record, if it had not been for Sims. The New Mexico transfer finished second in the long jump with a best of 7.65 meters, just over 25 feet. He beat his personal best by a quarter of a meter to claim the second-best leap in school history.

Gabriele Tosti won the triple jump in the afternoon. The senior’s best jump of 15.77 meters came on his first jump. He out-jumped second place by nearly a meter to win the crown.

Sofia DeGroot set a new personal best and posted the second-best triple jump in school history. The sophomore registered a best jump of 12.53 meters upping her previous best by 0.2 meters.

Aidan Matthews claimed another top 10 performance, this time in the 400. The junior clocked in at 48.45 in his Texan debut in the event to earn the fifth-fastest time in school history. He also finished second in the 200. He clocked in at 21.24 seconds, just .03 seconds away from tying his school record his set last weekend.

Reid Vincent notched the sixth best time in program history in the 200. He crossed in 21.74 seconds to earn fourth place in the event.

Estival and Taylor McFarland finished third and fourth in the 400. Estival nearly beat her school record set just a week ago, missing it by 0.04 seconds, crossing in 55.5. McFarland finished fourth in 56.55 seconds.

Tarleton State will compete in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in New Mexico next weekend. The two-day event will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, the same place as the WAC Indoor Championships were held last year. The two-day event will span from Friday to Saturday.
