(July 8, 1939 – February 11, 2025)

Marcia Ann Melnar was born on July 8, 1939 in Orange Grove, TX the daughter of Lawrence and Francisca Zapalak. On Dec. 28, 1957, Marcia was married to her true love, Albert Alfred Melnar. Shortly after marriage, they moved and made their home in Abbeville, LA. In 1958, Albert and Marcia moved to Houston until 1979. The Melnar’s then moved to Cat Springs. 

Marcia was an outdoors woman, fishing, hunting, gardening, self-taught cook, woodworker, seamstress, loved camping with her family and traveling on bus trips to Las Vegas with their friends. Marcia and Albert were excellent polka dancers. She enjoyed get-togethers with friends at the Cross Roads Tavern where she worked the Friday night fish fry for over 30 years. Maria was a devoted member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Cat Spring where she spent many happy years helping her church grow and run smoothly. 

Marcia passed away peacefully at home in Dublin, TX on Feb. 11, 2025, with Leslie, Tamala, and her precious kitty, Sweetie, by her side. 

She is survived by her son, Leslie Melnar and Tamala, grandchildren; Chad Marbut and family of Weatherford, TX, Nathan Marbut and family of Altus, OK, four great grandchildren, and many other dear friends and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at later date to be determined.
