Hill named WAC Player of the Week following stellar performance

STEPHENVILLE – After hitting three homers including her first grand slam, batting .750 and tallying 11 RBI, Kalyn Hill has been named WAC Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Hill started all four games for the Texans this past week, catching all three at Grand Canyon while hitting DP vs. Prairie View A&M. She hit .750 as she tallied six runs on nine hits in 12 at-bats. She hit two doubles and hit her fifth, sixth and seventh long balls. She tallied 11 RBI and 20 total bases with a slugging percentage of 1.667.

In addition to her seven hits, she also reached by base on balls two times. She also was perfect in the field with 19 putouts and two assist. Through 32 games thus far this season, Germain has started every game for the Texans.

This season thus far she leads the Texans in eight different offensive categories. She is batting .446 on the season and has scored 18 runs on 45 hits with 77 total bases. She has also walked 14 times.

Tarleton State Softball is currently 18-14, 4-5 WAC on the year, fourth-best record overall in the WAC as of Monday with the fifth-best conference record. The Texans went a 3-1 on the week with bookend wins over No. 24 Grand Canyon with a 15-1 (5) dominating win over Prairie View A&M earlier in the week.

The Purple and White have scored 171 runs on 251 hits thus far with 160 RBI and are hitting .300 as a team with three hitters hitting over .393. Tarleton State has also hit 28 home runs and seven triples. The Texans have also drawn 123 walks to date.

Tarleton State is set to return to action on Friday as the Texans will host Seattle U Friday-Saturday for a three-game conference series. Friday will feature a doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. followed by Game 3 on Saturday at 11 a.m. All three games will air live on ESPN+ and live stats will be available as well. Tickets are available for the three-game series.
