Delores Sue Goodman, 90, of Stephenville, TX died at home surrounded by her family and
caregivers on Thursday, April 10, 2025 after a lengthy illness.

Delores was born on December 17, 1934 in Sweetwater, Tennessee to the late Jack and Cora Phillips. She married Robert Goodman on June 1, 1954 in Monroe County, Tennessee. Delores was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Morgan Mill Baptist Church, member of the WMU. She was a master gardener and accomplished artist but her real accomplishments were being a wife, mother, and homemaker. 

She loved being a mom to her 4 daughters, being “Meemaw” to her grandchildren, and tending to her longtime companion, “Heidi”, a rescue dog. Prior to moving to Texas, she sang with the Phillips family at churches in Tennessee. 

Delores is survived by daughters, Pat Parnell (Charles) of Tuscola, Sonja Stockton (David) of Stephenville, and Sheila McMahan of Stephenville. Sisters and brothers, Brenda Phillips of Sweetwater, TN, Jimmy Phillips of Sweetwater, TN, J. D. (Sandy) Philips of Niota, Tn, Debbie Baines (Sammy) of Athens, TN. She is also survived by eight grandsons and two granddaughters, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Robert, one daughter Delana Haggard, six sisters—Carlene Ballew, Shirley Kyle, Wanda Presley, Joan Arden, Jackie Ervin and Verna Paul—all of Tennessee, 3 brothers – Charles Edward, Doug and Denny Phillips—all of Tennessee, and one great-great Parnell grandson of Tuscola, TX.

The family would like to extend their thanks and undying gratitude to the group of caregivers that assisted Delores through her illness. Thanks to Amara, Rebecca, Emily, Mekaela, Lechelle,and Shelbie.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16 2025 from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Stephenville Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville.
