STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State will get a chance to fight for the Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship on Thursday-Saturday, as the conference announced the bracket for the tournament at Sugar Beach in Youngsville, Louisiana.
Tarleton State earned the 7-seed and will open its tournament against the 2-seed Tulane on Thursday at 10 a.m. The winner of that match will face the winner of the match between the 3-seed Florida International and 6-seed Missouri State on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
It is a double-elimination tournament, so the loser of the match between the Texans and the Green Wave will next play in the Contenders’ Bracket against the loser of Thursday’s 8:30 a.m. match between the 8-seed Sam Houston and 9-seed Jacksonville State. That match will be played on Thursday at 4 p.m.
There are nine teams taking the sand in the double-elimination bracket with a single-elimination championship match competing for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The three-day event opens with eight matches on Thursday. All matches on Friday and Saturday will be streamed live on ESPN+. The conference championship match is slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Tarleton State and Tulane just met this past Friday in New Orleans. The Green Wave won 5-0, with two of the matches going three sets, on Courts 1 and 3.
This is the second straight year the Texans will play in the Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship. Tarleton won its opener against Jacksonville State last year 3-1 before losing 3-0 to TCU and 3-0 to UAB.
