STEPHENVILLE — As the semester nears a close, Tarleton State University is getting ready for a fun-filled summer, offering dozens of summer camp options for community families.

Camps start as early as May 3 and continue throughout the summer, varying in length and topics for youth from the age of 5 through grade 12. With half-day camps, full-day camps, camps lasting a few days and overnight camps, there are many options to choose from.

A wide variety of athletic camps will help kids hone their skills in areas like basketball, baseball, softball, football, tennis, soccer, volleyball and cheer. These camps will provide drills, personalized training based on skill level and game-like scenarios that will give students an immersive learning experience.

Many camps focusing on the arts will be available as well, including band camp, choir, color guard, digital audio and video, drumline, and theater. General fine arts camps will also be held throughout the summer and will provide children with a well-rounded view of art, focusing on everything from music and dance to visual arts.

Agricultural camps will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about subjects like aquaponics and agriculture around the world, examining how different environments change the way that people practice agriculture.

The deadline to sign up for these camps varies based on the camp, with many closing in mid-to-late May.
