Tarleton State Softball takes down sixth seeded CBU to advance to semifinals Friday afternoon vs. No. 24 and first seeded Grand Canyon

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – After sweeping the Lancers 3-0 less than a week ago in Texas on senior weekend, the Texans made quick work of California Baptist as Tarleton State shutout the 2025 WAC Tournament host 5-0 to advance to the semifinals for a date with top seeded and No. 24 Grand Canyon Friday afternoon.

The Purple and White got off to a quick start scoring two runs in two innings and never looked back cruising to their first WAC Tournament win in program history Thursday. Kalyn Hill got the scoring started as she swung first pitch sending a ball up the middle driving home Hayden Fox to make it a 1-0 game early on in the first. An inning later and this time with Fox at the plate she singled to left scoring Jaelynn Duke to push the lead to 2-0 in the second.

The next two innings were quiet before Hill made some noise once again. This time the senior catcher singled up the middle again advancing to second on the throw as Tristyn Trull scored to make it a 3-0 lead in the fifth. Isabella Bojkovic pinch hit in the fifth and reached on fielding error by the Lancers shortstop allowing Hill to score the fourth run of the game to make it a 4-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Trull send one deep marking just the second ball to leave the park the entire tournament across the eight team field. She sent her team leading ninth long ball to left center on a 3-2 count to make it a 5-0 lead, the final

For the Texans, Blincoe (W, 11-10) went the distance for the sixth time this year tossing her fifth complete game shutout and second one over the Lancers in less than a week. Last Friday she tossed a 6-0 complete game shutout to secure the series over CBU before Tarleton State swept the visitors 3-0 in the series. Blincoe went all seven innings allowing no runs on just four hits while she struck out nine and walked just a pair.

For the Lancers, Morgan McConnell (L, 9-18) earned the start in the circle going 4.1 IP giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits as she walked two and stuck out three. Lili Arana went the next 1.2 IP as she gave up one run (earned) on two hits while she walked one and sat down a pair.

Tarleton State will return to action Friday afternoon as the Texans will rematch with the No. 24 Lopes from Grand Canyon at 3 p.m. CT.
