Tarleton State Saddle Bronc Rider Parsons Leads Third Go-round

STEPHENVILLE — Tuesday was busy for Tarleton State University rodeo teams as nine riders and ropers were in action at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo.

Saddle bronc rider Montgomery Parsons, one of three Tarleton State competitors with two appearances Tuesday, took first place in the evening performance with an 80.5-point ride. Parsons’ three-ride total of 235 includes a 75.5 from Tuesday’s slack and a first-go 79. Teammate Bailey Small scored a 71 Tuesday, giving him a 153.5 total with one ride remaining.

Steer wrestler Landris White was runner-up in the evening performance, flashing a 4.5-second time and tie-down roper Brayden Roe turned in a 10.6 on his second calf in Casper.

Goat tyer Tori Brower’s 6.1 clocking took second in Tuesday’s slack to lead the Tarleton State women for the day. 

Jordan Driver, currently in second in the CNFR all-around race, ran barrels twice Tuesday. Her 14.27 in the slack and 19.02 in the evening performance, including a penalty for knocking over a barrel were both good for ninth. Teammate Hadley Tidwell also tipped a barrel on her 19.54 in barrels.

At the close of competition Tuesday, Tarleton State’s men are in first place while the women are in second.

Breakaway ropers, Jacelyn Frost and Driver, will be in action Wednesday evening as the CNFR continues toward Saturday’s championship finals.
