STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Football will host Villanova in the FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Tarleton State, the 4-seed, is one of eight teams remaining in the FCS Playoffs, along with 2-seed Montana State, 3-seed Montana, 7-seed Stephen F. Austin, 8-seed UC Davis, 11-seed South Dakota, 12-seed Villanova, and unseeded Illinois State. This is the furthest Tarleton State has advanced in the playoffs in its second season of postseason eligibility at the NCAA Division I level, as the Texans made it to the second round last year in their first season of eligibility.

Tickets are now available for the game, priced at $25 for reserved seating and $12 for north side general admission. Season ticket holders have the first opportunity to claim their seats, simply needing to log into their accounts online or call 254-968-1832 to purchase. Season ticket holders must claim by Tuesday at noon before seats are released to the public. As for Tarleton State students, staff and faculty, tickets will be free. Staff and faculty can claim two free tickets now, and students will get in free through the Corq app, like they have most of this season.

Tickets can be purchased or claimed here.

This is the first game in Tarleton State Athletics history set to be broadcast on ESPN. Tarleton State Football has played on ESPN2 twice, with its first game appearing on ESPN for a small stretch during the second quarter.

Villanova is 11-2 overall out of the Coastal Athletic Association, where the Wildcats went 7-1 in conference play. After starting the year 1-2, with one of those losses at Penn State, the Wildcats have won 10 straight games.

The winner of the matchup between Tarleton State and Villanova will play on Dec. 20 against the winner of the 8-seed UC Davis and unseeded Illinois State. If the Texans win, they will host the FCS Playoffs Semifinals game at Memorial Stadium. The national championship game will be in Nashville on Jan. 5.

The Texans are now 12-1 overall, and have tied their program record for wins in a single season (12 in 2018).
