June 20, 1933 ~ April 14, 2026 (age 92)
Peggy Ann Moore passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas, at the age of 92.
Born on June 20, 1933, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to parents, Marvin and Tollybelle Smith, Peggy grew up with a spirit of kindness and grace. On June 8, 1950, she began a beautiful life-long journey when she married Raymond Moore in Whitharral, Texas. Their marriage was the foundation of a large and loving family, built on a bedrock of shared values and enduring love.
A dedicated member of Harvey Baptist Church, Peggy lived her life as a testament to her faith. She was known for her warmth and her commitment to her church community, where she found great purpose and fellowship. Her family was her greatest pride, and she poured her heart into her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Peggy was a woman of many talents and a true “maker” at heart. An avid seamstress, she spent years making clothes for her children as they grew. Her creativity extended to quilting and crochet; she meticulously quilted several pieces by hand, earning first-place honors at the Lubbock Fair for both a quilt and a crocheted bedspread.
She was also an exceptional cook, famous for the many desserts she shared with others. Her culinary skills were well-known beyond her home; while working as a school cook, she was once called for jury duty and famously went to the courthouse to request a postponement until after Thanksgiving—simply because she knew she had to stay and cook the dressing for the school’s holiday meal.
Peggy is survived by her son, Darryl Moore and wife Cindy of Hewitt, Texas; her son, Mike Moore and wife June of Springtown, Texas; and her daughter, Tammy Clark and husband Wayne of Mansfield, Texas. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren and their spouses, as well as her 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Moore; her daughter, Jana Roberson; her cherished grandchildren, Amber Moore, Erick Moore, Robert Moore, and Cody Roberson, and parents, Marvin and Tollybelle Smith. While her loss is deeply felt, her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with them in eternal rest.
A service to celebrate Peggy’s life and memory will be held at 11:00 AM on April 21 at Lacy Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
