Wanda Sanders passed away at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 18th, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born in Hamlin, Texas on November 2, 1942 to Ira and Clarice Butler Sr. She married the love of her life John Wesley Sanders, Jr. on December 11, 1964 in Texas.
Wanda is sweetly remembered as a patient and generous lady. Going shopping, watching the “Andy Griffith Show”, or visiting the nearest Chicken Express were among some of her favorite weekly activities. When her grandkids were along for the ride, she definitely loved being the one that would spoil them rotten. She was absolutely selfless giving all that she could of herself whenever possible.
She was a faithful member of Cross Timbers Baptist Church for 14 years up until her going home to heaven. Her kind-hearted nature extended both to her church and nursing home where she left a sweet memory in many friends’ hearts.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Clarice Wells and husband Brian Wells; daughter-in-law Kim Sanders; six wonderful grandchildren, Kayla Steele and her husband Orion Steele, Keith Wells, Kelsie Wells, John Wesley Sanders IV, Zy Sanders, Julian Sanders; 2 awesome great-grandson, Jeremy Steele, Weston Sanders; and her sister, Betty Sue Smart.
She was greeted home in heaven by her beloved husband, John Wesley Sanders, Jr., and their son, John Wesley Sanders III. She joins her parents, Ira Sr. and Clarice Butler, and four brothers-Ira Butler, Jr., David, Othell, and Milton Butler and sister-Martha Bray.
Service Information
Visitation will be held from 7:30 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, in the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.
