PHILADELPHIA – Tarleton State Baseball relief pitcher Anthony Treto was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 13th Round at pick No. 400 in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Treto is the 10th player in program history to be picked in the MLB Draft. He is the first Texan since 2023 (Will Stevens, 15th Rd/Pick #453 – Tampa Bay Rays) to be selected and is the program’s highest pick since 1999 (Paul Darnell, 11th Rd/Pick #338 – Cincinnati Reds).

The relief pitcher was instrumental in the Texans’ bullpen in 2026, co-leading the team with eight saves. His final save of the season came in Tarleton State’s first-ever Division I Regional win in program history against UC Santa Barbara. He also posted a 3.10 earned run average to go with 68 strikeouts and a 3-0 win/loss record.

After posting a career-high seven strikeouts against Air Force on March 27, Treto came in the clutch during Tarleton State’s postseason run. He struck out six batters en route to his third win of the season in the WAC Championship game against Sacramento State, helping the Texans to the program’s second Division I conference title. Treto also struck out six batters in the NCAA Regional opener against UCSB.

Treto helped the Texans to the WAC Championship in 2026, giving Tarleton State Athletics its eighth conference tournament title at the Division I level (Baseball – 2024, 2026, Women’s Golf – 2025-26, Women’s Indoor Track & Field – 2026, Tennis – 2026, Men’s Golf – 2026, Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – 2026). In addition to sweeping the WAC titles, Treto helped Tarleton State Baseball collect three wins over Power 4 conference opponents in 2026. The Texans also upset No. 2 nationally-ranked Texas on March 17, with Treto tallying five strikeouts in that contest.

Treto’s season helped the Texans finish with their third most wins in a single-season in their modern era, and their most wins since 1992. Tarleton State also won its third ever NCAA Regional game in its fifth appearance, its first in the D1 era (also 2014 and 1998).
