Fred Bruce Parker, of Hico, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Stephenville, Texas, at the age of 79.
Born on February 26, 1947, Fred was raised in Erath County and attended Three Way School before graduating from Stephenville High School in 1965. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas Tech University in 1972 and became a registered architect in Texas in 1976. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned architectural licenses in multiple states, reflecting the breadth of his expertise and the trust clients placed in his work. Soon after becoming licensed, he established Parker & Associates in Stephenville, where he spent nearly five decades designing buildings that became lasting landmarks and strengthened communities throughout Texas and beyond.
Fred was respected not only for his talent as an architect but also for his leadership and service to his profession and community. He served on numerous professional and community boards, including 20 years as a board member of the Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District, generously sharing his knowledge, experience, and thoughtful leadership. He was also a proud member of the Tarleton Alumni Association and a dedicated supporter of Tarleton State University and the Stephenville community.
Throughout his career, Fred earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike for his thoughtful designs, attention to detail, and commitment to quality. His work included the Donald R. Jones Justice Center, the Stephenville Senior Citizens Center, numerous facilities at Tarleton State University, and Cornerstone Church in Stephenville, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life.
Away from the drafting table, Fred found joy at Pony Creek Ranch, a place that held a special place in his heart. He loved attending car shows, collecting antiques, and spending time with family and friends. And, of course, no description of Fred would be complete without mentioning his Marlboro Reds, which were as much a part of him as his quick wit and unmistakable smile.
While Fred’s accomplishments were remarkable, those who knew him will remember his humor, kindness, faith, and ability to make everyone laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Katie Sue Parker. He is survived by his sons, Jordan Parker and Justin Parker and his wife, Diane; grandsons Jackson and Cash Parker; and numerous other beloved family members, friends, and colleagues.
His greatest blueprint was not found in the buildings he designed, but in the life he built through his faith in God, his love for his family, his cherished friendships, and his service to others. Whether in the communities he helped shape or at the peace he found at Pony Creek Ranch, his legacy will live on for generations.
Service Information
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Cornerstone Church in Stephenville. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Clairette Cemetery on Highway 6.
