STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State Soccer is enjoying one of its longest unbeaten streaks in program history, and in the conference awards, the Texans are flat-out winning.
On Monday, the United Athletic Conference announced that forward Zahra Friess has been named the UAC Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 14-20. Tarleton State Soccer has now won three straight UAC Player of the Week awards, spanning three different student-athletes: Avery Mednez, Jessica Baires and now Friess.
Friess recorded three points in Tarleton State’s lone match on the week, a 2-1 Tarleton State win against Texas Southern on Thursday. Friess recorded a goal and an assist, involved in both of the Texans’ goals on the night. Friess scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 65th minute to give the Texans a 2-0 cushion. Friess had three shots, two shots on goal, one goal and an assist in 76 minutes. Over her past three matches, Friess has seven points with a goal in each.
Across the UAC, Friess has the tied-most goals on the year (four), the tied-second most points (nine), and the tied-third most shots on goal (11).
Also recognized by the conference on Monday were Abilene Christian’s Audrey Coppinger (UAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week), Little Rock’s Jetney Cook (UAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week) and Little Rock’s Reese Potts (UAC Goalkeeper of the Week).
