Sheila Faye (Polk) Lane, 68, of Hico, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her husband and three sons.
Sheila was born February 24, 1958, to Derwood and Berta Polk. She married the love of her life, Terry Lynn Lane, on October 15, 1977. Together, they spent almost 49 years building a life filled with love, raising their family, and enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their marriage was centered around family, and the life they shared was one of Sheila’s greatest blessings.
Sheila was the mother of three sons, Brandon Keller and wife Nikki, Jared Keller and wife Chandra, and Justin Lane and wife Danya. But one of the greatest joys of her life was being “Gram.”
She was immensely proud of her grandchildren: Kobe Keller and wife Kenzie, Carson Keller and wife Kenedy, Jax, Jaya, Jolie and Jessa Keller, Mackenzie Pepper and husband RJ, and Alexa and Ty Lane; and her great-grandchildren, Hudson Crandell, Tate and Ella Keller, and Jase Pepper.
To say Sheila loved her family does not quite capture it. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world. Whatever they were involved in, Gram was involved too. She was in the stands for the track meets, basketball games and football games, cheering them on and making sure they knew how proud she was of them. Winning or losing never mattered much to Sheila. What mattered was that they were hers, and she was proud of them simply for being who they were.
Sheila worked for many years at Hico Pharmacy and also served her community as Assistant City Secretary for the City of Hico. Through her work and her life in Hico, she came to know countless people and was a familiar face to many throughout the community.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Terry Lynn Lane; her sons and their families; her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; her siblings, Barry Polk and wife Sandra, Dennis Polk and wife Linda Sue, Vickie Solsbery and husband Dennis, Danny Polk and wife Donice, Cindy Hennessy and husband Pat, and Dale Polk and wife Julie; her sisters-in-law, Diana Cowen and husband Jeff, and Billie Sue Lane; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Derwood and Berta Polk; her father- and mother-in-law, Raymond and Sherry Lane; and her brothers-in-law, David and Lester Lane.
Sheila leaves behind a family that will miss her more than words can express. But the love she poured into her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remain with them. They will remember the countless games and meets she attended, the pride she took in every accomplishment, and the comfort of always knowing that Gram was there.
For Sheila, family was everything.
And to her family, Gram was everything.
