STEPHENVILLE — No one has figured out how to slow down Tarleton State Soccer’s Jessica Baires quite yet, as she added six more points this week to her conference-leading total, earning UAC Player of the Week honors once again on Monday.
The United Athletic Conference announced that midfielder/forward Baires has been named the UAC Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 12-18. This is Baires’ third UAC Player of the Week award this season, also earning recognition on Oct. 5 and Sept. 14.
Baires had six points across Tarleton State’s 2-0-0 week, recording three points in each match, with a goal and an assist in each match. The Texans shut out both opponents on the week, dealing Eastern Kentucky its first conference loss 2-0, then blanking West Georgia 4-0. Baires had the most points across all UAC players on the week, plus had the tied-most goals across all UAC players at two. She was the only player with multiple goals and an assist. Baires earned her team-leading eighth goal of the year on Sunday. She now has 25 points, eight goals and nine assists on the year, recording at least a point in nine of the past 10 matches (24 over the span). Across the UAC on the season, Baires is No. 1 in points (17), No. 1 in assists (seven), tied-first in goals (five), No. 5 in shots on goal (13) and No. 10 in shots (22).
