STEPHENVILLE (September 10, 2015) — Top 15 finishes by Emily Kirbo and Kayliana Castillo led the Stephenville girls to the varsity team title at the Bluebonnet Invitational cross country meet in Hico Wednesday. Stephenville was fourth in the varsity boys race, first in junior varsity girls and fourth in JV boys.
Kirbo placed ninth – scoring eighth – in the girls race, finishing in 13 minutes, 42.6 seconds. Castillo placed 14th and scored 13th for the Honeybees, crossing the line in 14:00.1.
Other scoring runners for Stephenville were Peyton Wood, 22nd place, 21 points in 14:17.3; Shelby Wood, 26th place, 24 points in 14:24.2 and Allissa Adams, 27th place, 25 points in 14:24.8. Displacing runners for Stephenville included Kate Daugherty, 33rd place, 31st scoring runner in 14:41.4; and Odalys Salazar, 43rd place, 41st scoring runner in 15:04.4.
The Bees scored 91 points, holding off second place Millsap by 31.
The fourth place Yellow Jackets were led by Gilberto Garcia, who was sixth overall and fifth in points in 18:22.8. He was followed by Riley Forehand in 22nd place with 19 points in 19:43.6, Pedro Rodriguez in 24th and scoring 21 in 19:45.9, Jose Hernandez, 31st with 28 points in 20:06 and Miguel Carrillo, 38th place with 34 points in 20:34.
Displacing runners for Stephenville were Evan Moody – 42nd, 38th scoring runner, 20:47.1 – and Kendall Williams – 52nd, 46th scoring runner in 21:04.
The Yellow Jackets scored 107 points. Whitney won the varsity boys competition with 68.
The JV girls were led to victory by No. 1 overall finisher Julie Morken in 14:59.3.
Christian Brown placed fifth to lead Stephenville’s JV boys. He finished in 20:55.7.
