Tarleton State sprinter Victoria Cameron selected Academic All-American

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State sophomore Victoria Cameron added another accolade to her historic season as a third team selection to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Team.

Cameron has boasted a stellar campaign in her second year at Tarleton State. The three-time Second Team All-American keeps adding to her growing lists of accomplishments this season. She was tabbed the WAC Indoor Female Freshman of the Year following her first gold medal at the WAC Championships in Spokane. In the outdoor slate, she was named the WAC Female Track Athlete of the Year and WAC Performer of the Meet at the WAC Championships. She totaled three gold medals in the 100, 200 and 4×100 relay at the conference championships. In addition, she set the all-time WAC record in both the 100 and the 4×100 relay this season as well as program records in each as well as in the 200. She earned three selections as the WAC Female Track Athlete of the Week across both seasons. The sophomore excelled in the classroom as well earning selections to the Academic All-WAC Team for both indoor and outdoor track as well as 2025 CSC Academic All-District®.

In the indoor season, Cameron set the new school record in the 60-meter dash in nearly every race she ran this season. She was named the WAC Female Freshman of the Year following her gold medal performance in the 60 meters at the WAC Championships. She also posted a 15th place finish to earn Second Team All-American status at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Stephenville native was one of the first four athletes in program history to reach the NCAA Championships in the first year of eligibility for the Texans.

Cameron’s outdoor season started with another school record in the 100 meters. Across the spring slate, she broke the program record in the 100 on nearly every wind-legal race she ran. In one of the most prestigious meets of the season, she earned her first medal at the Texas Relays finishing third in the 100 meters. In addition, she won her heat in nine of her 12 races in the 100 this season. At the WAC Championships, she broke both the WAC All-Time, and the WAC Championships Meet records crossing in 11.05 seconds. She brought home the gold medals in the 100, 200 and 4×100 relay to earn WAC Female Track Performer of the Meet scoring 22.5 points for the Texans. The Purple and White standout earned the conference’s highest honor following the regular season being tabbed the WAC Female Track Athlete of the Year. She was the first Texan to earn the honor in the Division I era and the third athlete to earn a WAC end of year honor since joining in 2020.

The Stephenville native was one of 11 Texans to make the team’s first trip to the NCAA West First Rounds at College Station. Cameron punched her ticket to Eugene, Ore. as part of the 4×100 relay and in the 100-meter dash. She posted the second-best time in the 100 in a field of Power Four athletes. At the NCAA National Championships, she was the only non- Power Four Athlete in the top 10 qualifying times and the only one to reach the finals. She earned a ninth-place finish to earn Second Team All-American. The sophomore also earned Second Team All-American status in the 4×100 relay with a 15th place finish.

In the classroom, she boasts academic excellence in each of her two years at Tarleton State. After her freshman year, she was named Academic All-WAC for soccer. Her sophomore year she earned the honor three times, for soccer, indoor track and outdoor track. In addition, she was tabbed CSC Academic All-District® for both women’s soccer and track and field. She is the only Texan to earn the honor across multiple sports this season.

The Stephenville native is the second Texan across all sports to earn a CSC Academic All-American® selection this season, joining Darius Cooper. Cameron is the first Texan track and field athlete in the D1 era to earn a selection to the D1 Academic All-America® Team. She is one of 45 student-athletes both male and female to earn selections to the Track and Field All-America squad. The Tarleton State sophomore is just one-of-six sophomores to earn the honor at the Division I level. Cameron is the only WAC track and field athlete to earn the honor this season. 

Cameron’s 2025 season is not over just yet. The youngster will be competing at the 2025 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on July 31- August 2. With a top performance at the US Championships, Cameron can earn a spot representing Team USA at the 2025 Track and Field World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.
