Calvin George Cox, a beloved resident of Hamilton, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2025. Born on May 24, 1943, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Ollie Bessie and Sydney Gail Cox, Calvin was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband. He was a dedicated and hard-working carpenter and nurseryman, known for his commitment to supporting his family. His creative talents were evident in the barnwood furniture he crafted for many.
Calvin is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Sue (Tate) Cox, brothers, Walter Gail Cox, Clyde Willis Cox, Sidney Gail Cox, sisters, Mary Ollie Sain, Leona Kathryn Qualls, Olena Ruth Allison, and grandson, Tyler Wayne Elliott. He is survived by his brother, Truman Cox and wife, Claudia, his son, Kevin Cox, daughters, Melissa Cox, Stacey Elliott and husband, Jerry, Christi Armstrong and husband, Alan, grandchildren, Brooke Cox, Joe Cox, Chance Logan and wife, Stephanie, Aaron Logan and wife, Tiffani, Justin Elliott and wife, Jolene, Travis Elliott and wife, Jamie, Chelsea Elliott and fiancé, Ryan Kizzar, Cody Armstrong, Amber Taylor and husband, Brandon, Bailey Nolan and husband, Weston, Dawson Armstrong and Madison Green, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
The family extends their gratitude to the Wings Over Texas Hospice, Focus Care Nursing Home, where the staff was extremely helpful and kind during his stay, and caregivers Ramona Beineman, Christy Hall, Lydia Massingill, Glenn Murray, Leah Stork, Callie Diffe, Jessica Rainwater, and Katheryn and Bubba Garland for their support.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held at Harrell Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm with interment to follow at the New Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.
