Linda Fay McQueary, 85, passed away on January 11, 2026.
Linda was born on June 4, 1940, in Poolville, TX, in Parker County, to Raymond Hooten and Geneva Felkner Hooten. She was a proud graduate and Salutatorian of Perrin High School’s Class of 1958, which included 14 students. She married Roger McQueary on June 4, 1960, in Perrin, TX and celebrated 65 years of marriage with him.
The couple moved after getting married and lived in both Houston and Corpus Christi. The couple later moved to Stephenville after Roger took a coaching job at Tarleton State University. Linda was the “dorm mom” at Crockett Hall where they lived for several years. Linda later took a full-time job at Tarleton, working there for over 40 years. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ.
Linda is survived by her husband Roger, children Mark (Kema) McQueary, Ralinda (Heath) Stone, grandchildren Kash Stone and Kutter Stone and sister Laura (Charles) Bender. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Linda will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Stephenville Funeral Home with Buddy Payne officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation with the McQueary family will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, (one hour prior to services) at Stephenville Funeral Home.
