Joy Scott, 77, of Palo Pinto, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. Joy was born on January 3, 1949, in Marfa, Texas to Victor Heil and Elorene Dahse Heil She lived a life centered around her family, her faith, and the simple joys that brought people together. A devoted homemaker, Joy took great pride in caring for her loved ones and creating a warm, welcoming home.
On May 26, 1967, she married the love of her life, Brent Scott. They shared many years together until his passing on August 5, 2022. Their marriage was a lasting example of love and commitment.
Joy had a deep love for reading, cooking, baking, and Mexican food. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, especially gathered around a table filled with good food. She was a member of 11th Avenue Church in Mineral Wells, Texas.
She is survived by her 2 children: Ronnie Scott and wife Cindy of Palo Pinto, Texas; and K.C. Scott and wife Denise of Lipan, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings, Jerry Heil and wife Jean of Victoria, Texas, and Lexine Garner and husband Randy of Alpine, Texas. Joy leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brent Scott; her parents; and her sister, Ann Gates.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at New Hope Cemetery in Palo Pinto, Texas, with Vance Wade officiating.
Joy will be remembered for her kindness, her strong devotion to her family, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
