STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University saddle bronc rider Waitley Sharon posted an 82.75-point score Sunday to finish third in “Bulls, Broncs and Breakaway,” the opening performance of the College National Finals Rodeo at the Ford Center in Casper, Wyo.

Sharon, who won the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Lone Star Region saddle bronc title, led a group of five who posted Top 10 efforts Sunday.
Teammate Clay Greenslade, the regional all-around champion in the regular season, turned in a 79.25-point ride to finish seventh. Montgomery Parsons’ 77.25-point ride was good for ninth.
Bareback rider Taylon Carmody, Lone Star Region reserve champion, earned an 81.25-point ride for sixth. Regional reserve breakaway roping champion Rylee Abel flashed a 2.5-second run to tie for ninth.
Additionally, Tarleton State bareback rider Daxtyn Field finished 14th on the night with his 76.25-point ride, Jace Lomheim finished 22nd with a 73-point ride and Greenslade’s 67-point ride finished 26th in the event.
CNFR action continues in Casper with Monday slack, featuring nine Tarleton State competitors in seven events. Clay Greenslade will ride in the saddle bronc and bareback events, Dalton Porch will compete in the first go-round of steer wrestling and tie-down roping, and Rylee Grace Abel will be featured in goat tying and breakaway roping.
Bull rider Brenson Bartlett, calf ropers Travis Staley and Brodey Clemons, breakaway roper Jenna Fulton and goat tyers Faith Lundberg and Kaylie Garza will make their first CNFR appearances, as well.
