STEPHENVILLE — Bareback riders Daxtyn Field and Jace Lomheim jetted to the top of the event for the Tarleton State University men’s rodeo team in Tuesday action at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.

Field’s 84-point ride during slack competition moved him into first place in the second go-round and Lomheim posted an 81.5-point ride in the evening performance to take the lead in the third go-round. Field carries a 160.25 on two-head with his third ride coming up Friday. Lomheim has a 231.5 total on three rides.

Taylon Carmody’s 75.5-point ride on Tuesday gives him a 156.75 on two bareback rides, with his third-round performance set for Wednesday. Waitley Sharon earned a 73-point ride in the event on Tuesday, giving him a 164.5 on two horses. His third go-round ride is slated for Thursday. 

Montgomery Parsons is 221 on three rides in saddle bronc riding, including his sixth-place 70.75-point ride on Tuesday night and a 73-point ride in slack.

Tie-down roper Brodey Clemons also made two runs Tuesday, turning in a 9.9 time in his slack appearance, good for fifth in the second go-round, and added a 20.8 in the evening performance.

Two goat tyers were in the arena on Tuesday for the Tarleton State women’s rodeo team. Faith Lundberg posted a 6.3-second run for seventh in the second round and teammate Kaylie Garza’s 6.4 pushed her into a tie for 10th.

Joining Carmody in the Wednesday evening third-round performance for Tarleton State are bull rider Zane Monnett, tie-down roper Travis Staley and steer wrestler Dalton Porch.
