STEPHENVILLE (March 14, 2017) – Tarleton sophomore Mackenzie Hailey was voted as one of the top 11 women’s basketball players in the South Central Region by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association.
“This is a great honor for an outstanding young lady,” said Misty Wilson. “Mack will continue to improve on both ends of the floor because of her work ethic. I’m excited and proud for Mack and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to coach her for another two years.”
Hailey was a star for the TexAnns in her debut season at Tarleton as the sophomore transfer led the TexAnns to their seventh NCAA regional tournament appearance and second Lone Star Conference Tournament championship in school history.
She averaged 16.1 points and grabbed 8.4 rebounds per game in 30 games for Tarleton this season. For the year, Hailey scored 484 points, grabbed 252 rebounds, and shot .484 from the field on 179-of-370 shooting.
Hailey was named a second-team All-Lone Star Conference selection and won one LSC Player of the Week award. This is her first career regional award.
