ERATH COUNTY (April 9, 2015) — A registered sex offender was arrested by Erath County Sheriff’s deputies on warrants out of Hearne when he reported to his probation officer Thursday morning, sheriff department officials said.
According to Sheriff Tommy Bryant, Jeffery Don Kennedy, 37 of Dublin, was arrested on three warrants stemming from an investigation by the Hearne PD. Kennedy has lived in both Stephenville and Dublin, but from August 6, 2014 until December 3, 2014, he lived in Hearne, according to the Texas State Sex Offender Registry’s records.
Kennedy was currently on probation for the possession of child pornography, which occurred in Erath County in May 2010, and was serving a seven-year probation period that required him to register with the state each time he changed addresses.
He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Erath County Jail on three charges of sexual misconduct. According to court records, Kennedy is charged with sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact. He will be held at the jail until Hearne officials retrieve him.
