STEPHENVILLE (March 9, 2016) — Stephenville has taken the next step in naming a full-time athletic director.
The position has been posted on the school district website, and superintendent Matt Underwood says he hopes have a finalist to present to school trustees at their April meeting.
“I think we’re down to two inside candidates, and we’re just working through the process. Next is to see who the outside candidates will be,” explained Underwood Wednesday morning. “We’ll leave it open about three weeks and get a committee together and an interview schedule.”
Longtime multisport Stephenville coach and Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor member Mike Copeland has served as interim athletic director since Alan Haire resigned in early February after one year to become AD and head football coach at Salado, his alma mater.
Copeland is also currently the head coach of girls track and field.
